At first I only thought of Norway as our entering and exit point, a place where we can gather our thoughts before we continue on. But once I realized we will be spending a few days there at the start and a few days there at the end I started looking for things to keep us busy, and now I've found that we won't be spending nearly enough time there to see all the amazing sights Norway has to offer. What will really set our time in Norway apart from the rest of the trip is the overwhelming natural beauty this country has preserved. I've always seen travel photographs picturing the gorgeous rivers running through massive cliffs and mountain valleys, and they've never been "real" to me, kinda just a magical place far far away haha. But they are real, and they are in Norway.
The thing is we've planned to fly into Oslo which is on the eastern side of Norway and a vast majority of these are sea inlets on the west coast of the country (a solid 6-hour bus ride from Oslo). Though, nestled right in the middle of it all would be Bergen. Which presents me with three different options for Norway. Fly into Bergen rather than Oslo
Fly into Oslo and take a train to Bergen (info)
Fly into Oslo, stay in Oslo
Which option would you take? |
